Money is not everything

Damn, how much I hate the phrase in the title, mostly because I know it is not true. MONEY IS EVERYTHING! With money you can buy yourself the things that you really like and the things that you really know will make you happy, if not, at least some temporary happiness. Without money… well, you suffer to hell because you can’t even buy a coke to your girlfriend. That is if you had enough money to buy a ticket for the city-bus to go to the other side of town to visit her.

Well, I feel awful. Yesterday my mom told me she couldn't support me with 100 pesos (less than 10 USD) a week. She said that since I started hanging out with Grissel I had been asking her for $400 pesos a month, not $200 that I used to for busses and whatever else I wanted or needed. This is so lame, I will have to visit her 1 day a week, not 2 as I had been doing lately. With $200 pesos you do practically nothing… subtracting $100 pesos on busses, that’s $50 pesos a week to spend on her. Gasoline, here in México, is too expensive; I can’t afford to fill the tank… I’ll have to wait till my mom sees I consumed it in school rides so she sees the need for me to half-fill it again.

Saturday or Monday? What's the best day to pay a visit to her? I'll have to choose one of both... stick to it and visit her on the morning and end the visit at the night. At least 8 hours to compensate the days that I don’t see her. No more going to the restaurants, movies, ice creams, malls, cheap places, etc, unless I starve to death at campus and save the rest of the money that is meant for food.

Social stereotypes suck. Most girls don't suffer this economic problem; their stuff gets paid by the man, in most of the cases. Most discos have this small cover fee for women (if any) and men's fee is skyrocketed. Nice restaurants deliver different set of menus; a normal menu with bloated prices, on things that women usually select, for the men and for the women a different set of menus without prices which feature all the expensive food.

I'm not against it... but... why should we men pay skyrocketed-bloated-prices just to have a nice evening with our girl?
