Gmail is awesome.
Thanks Callahan for inviting me to create a gmail.com email address, I had been wanting so much an email account from there.
Gmail offers 1000mb (practically 1gb) of email storage, 500 times more than hotmail and 50 times more than yahoo mail. It also has a conversation-based storage of emails, meaning that each reply counts as being from one conversations, so, its all stored in the same conversation; no more date-based storage. The interface is so easy to use, so friendly, nice looking, fast and simple that hotmail and yahoo look like both being deep in a big hole. There are shortcuts for each common action that you will do in gmail. If you have contacts in your address book, when you compose a message and start typing a name or email address gmail shows a tooltip text with autocomplete options based on the text that you have already writen.
There are several thing that I did not like about GMail. Its address book is one of them. In it you can't store an alias (nickname) for a contact, physical addresses, birthdates, phone numbers, cellphone numbers, category nor a picture for easy person recognition. I would have liked that the contact list (address book) would be outlook based. Gmail does not show how much space does an email occupies in your account, it only says how much space have you ocupied of your practically 1GB cuote.
It would be nice if I found a link to a 'suggest a feature' page.
Anyways, what do you expect from a beta test email webservice which offers 200x more storage than the world's leading email webservice?
